Looking for Great Iced Tea
Good iced tea is hard to find. Great iced tea, seemingly impossible! I am sitting here at my desk with a glass of this favorite beverage, cleaning up the tax forms mess (now you know why I didn’t post yesterday!) I drink iced tea almost every day. Usually black with lemon, occasionally a tad sweet, sometimes switching to green. I rarely find tasty iced tea when I eat out. Sometimes I will order hot tea, brew it strong, and pour it over ice to make my own. Yes, I have become an iced tea snob! But I feel justified by all of the info out there about how good tea is for you.
A couple months ago Cameron and I were at the local mall, which is a rare event, and I spotted a sign for “Teavana“. Giddy with the promise of yummy tea that someone else would make for me, I made a beeline to its promised location. Cameron, also a tea fan, needed little encouragement to follow. We looked around at their selections, asked for explanations, and finally settled on iced tea made from whatever was the server’s/cashier’s favorite. It ended up being a blend of white tea with tropical flavors. Yum! Thumbs up from both of us. The only drawback was that it was $5 for each of us. Now, the tea was really good and is completely worth it when you consider your other mall beverage options, but I was a little surprised since beverages over $4 usually contain alcohol.
If you know of any cafes or restaurants, near or far, that have great iced tea, let me know. What about favorite teas for making your own? For regular, everyday tea I use Newman’s Own®Organics Royal Tea
. Two favorites for special flavors are Yogi Tea Organic Green Tea Mint Garden
and Republic of Tea. I haven’t ordered from Adagio Teas in a while, but they have really good stuff. This little book is currently on my wishlist: Iced Tea by Fred Thompson. Oh, and when I’m out and about, I love finding Honest Tea Peach Oo-La-Long
chilling in the fridge cases at convenience stores.
