Ghosts for Halloween
If you like to do a little decorating for Halloween, but don’t want things to get too scary, try these cute ghosts. There are many easy, inexpensive ways to add ghosts to your porch, table centerpiece, and cookie jar.
Ghostly Treats
12 peanut-shaped, peanut butter cookies
8 ounces white candy coating
mini chocolate chips
Melt white candy coating in saucepan on low, stirring constantly, or in microwave, stirring every 30 seconds. (Be careful not to overheat – it “seizes” or clumps.) Remove from heat. Dip cookies in candy coating, covering all sides. Remove with a fork and transfer to waxed paper. Add two chocolate chips as eyes. Repeat with all cookies. Let them cool completely before removing from waxed paper.
Porch Ghosts
Supplies:
white balloons
white trash bags
black permanent marker
clear fishing line
Cut white trash bag diagonally from one sealed corner to the opposite open corner. Cut strips halfway up. Inflate balloon and place inside corner of cut section. Tie end with fishing line. Draw eyes and mouth on bag.
Cheesecloth Ghost
cheesecloth
glue
balloons
plastic bottle or milk carton
wooden skewer sticks or chopsticks
Inflate balloon and attach to bottle or carton. Insert skewers into bottle for ghost’s arms. Pre-arrange cheesecloth to check for length, width, etc. Mix 1/4 cup glue with 3/4 cup water in a bowl. Immerse cheesecloth; wring out excess. Arrange cloth over balloon. Allow to dry. If desired, add eyes with marker or black felt.
